The Western Veil

This image represents "First Light" of a new 80mm triplet Apochromatic scope. The Western Veil, or NGC 6960,  is a supernova remnant some 1400 light years distant in the constellation of Cygnus, the remains of a giant star which exploded some 5000 to 8000 years ago. The Western Veil represents only a small part of a structure that is approximately 6 times the diameter of the full moon. The bright star is 52 Cygni, which is a binary system. The colours in the image represent Sulphur (Green) Oxygen (blue) and hydrogen (red).
