Jupiter is nearing opposition, which occurs on the 3rd December 2012. It is now ideally placed for viewing and imaging, rising at around 15:00hrs and culminating at 23:00hrs, which means that it is in the sky for most of the evening in the constellation of Taurus. It lies 4 degrees north east of the Hyades star cluster and 12 degrees south east of the Pleiades star cluster.
